Simply put, eco or botanical printing is a contact printing process where the natural pigment from plant material is transferred directly to another surface.

The plant pigments are extracted and transferred with aid of heat and firm contact to the printing surface.

The resulting color variations are influenced by mordants, tannins, the age of the plant materials, growing conditions, the variety within a plant species, etc.

Because there are so many variables involved, each print is truly unique and one of a kind.
